Delivering a targeted event to showcase the National Space Centre Project, Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), Scape Venture and the client. The event marked the launch of “sent into space.” and positioned the client as considerate and caring contractors at the forefront of CCS innovation – involving the Chairman of CCS

The event provided a behind the scenes look at the project and space centre.  It gave back-story and publicity to the official opening.  It has a double celebration, 1st Ultra Site status for a project under £1m and 1st Construction company to send an object into Space

Production of a viral video of the launch was filtered in bite size clips over social media to provide momentum and keep interest up. Over 10,000 impressions on social media channels were recorded.

A tailored ‘Classtronaughts’ programme for a local school was also incorporated in the day involving tracking the balloon and calculating the landing.

A bear and a bolt were sent into space (the edge of our atmosphere) and recorded the curvature of the Earth.  The package was then recovered, the bear was used with the school and the golden bolt was placed in a special encasement in the build (the foyer) of the National Space Centre with a plaque for perpetuity.

A community fun day

The work won on Bolsover Model Village which consisted of 194 two and three-bedroom existing properties, the work involved internal and external works across 138 Council-owned properties and external works on the remaining 56 privately owned properties. Internal and external works to each property were programmed to take 12 weeks, but are batched efficiently into 6, 16-week long phases to ensure that all works are completed in time to meet a funding deadline. Both workstreams require differing subcontractors working collaboratively within a tight site.  In order to meet the HLF requirements a social value team needed to be in place to carry out a full programme of activities.

The Event:

A fun-day hosted by Bolsover Model Village and the Friends of New Bolsover, we provided a pop-up dome and activities aimed at children along with refreshments and snacks.
